Jason Morrone

Systems Operations Manager/Director - 16 years in the fire industry

Jason Morrone is one of the inaugural directors of Firesafe Systems and is rated as one of the top up and coming identities within the Western Australian fire industry.  Although he has been an active participant within the fire industry over the past 16 years, his rise to the top began after the completion of a Fire Sprinkler apprenticeship and then when in 1999 at the age of 23 he was promoted to Site Supervisor Leading Hand of a large Shopping Centre redevelopment (Westfield’s Carousel), under the tuition of Ray Orchard Senior (Project Manager).

Jason’s 16 years within the fire industry has provided a great opportunity for growth and offered the opportunity to participate on a broad range of projects from multi storey high rise buildings, major shopping centres, distribution centres (warehouses) to projects within the resource sector.  His hands on approach, experience, knowledge and ability to identify new methods of installation make Jason an integral part of all Firesafe projects.

As a Director, Jason’s role within our organisation differs from day to day, however his main task is the overall management of site labour, attending meetings with Firesafe Project Managers, Procurement Officers and Fabrication Manager.  Jason also represents our company in meetings with authorities such as Leading Industry Consultants, Fire Enginerrs, FESA (Fire Emergency & Safety Authroity), the City of Perth Building Surveyors and Independent Third Party Certifiers.  He works closely with our Project Managers, Site Supervisors/Leading Hands offering support and provides advanced installation knowledge, new methods of installation and new products available in the market to best assist our onsite management.  He also works closely with the Procurement Manager and Fabrication Manager to ensure the correct materials arrive on site to meet project schedules.

Ray Orchard Snr

Systems Managing Director – 40 years in the Fire Industry

Ray Orchard Senior for many years has played a leading role in the Western Australian fire industry. He has been an active participant for over 40 years and possesses an invaluable wealth of experience and knowledge. He has played a major role in a large number of blue chip projects within Western Australia. His experiences cover a broad range of projects from multi storey high rise buildings, major shopping centres, distribution centres (warehouses), to projects within the resource sector.

Due to his vast experience, Ray’s role within our organisation differs from day to day, however on a consistent basis he provides review of drawings and hydraulic calculations for the majority of projects before they are issued to the client for approval. Ray continuously represents our company in meetings with authorities such as Leading Industry Consultants, Fire Engineers, FESA (Fire Emergency & Safety Authority), the City of Perth Building Surveyors, FM Global Insurance and Independent Third Party Certifiers.

He is always available to our project managers for technical support and provides an excellent sound board for new ideas and methods of installation.

Will Graham

Will Graham joined Firesafe shortly after its inception and has been with the Group for over nine years; the last four years of which as Operations Manager and Director of Firesafe Service and Maintenance Pty Ltd. Will has achieved substantial growth at the helm of Firesafe Service and Maintenance, taking it from a small crew of four servicing small commercial buildings in Perth, to a thriving team of over thirty personnel with endless service capabilities across all industries and blue-chip clients. Will’s 14-year career started in 2001 when he commenced his Sprinkler Fitter apprenticeship. Since then, Will has advanced into a subject matter expert in the design, installation and servicing of a vast range of fire protection assets, with his main focus being on Mechanical and Special Hazard Systems.

As Operations Manager, his daily duties include the end to end management of all operations within the business unit, developing strategic direction and management of business development.

Jon Nuthall

Jon Nuthall is a fire protection industry veteran who joined Firesafe Service and Maintenance in 2013 as Service Manager and Director. Jon began his career via an electrical apprenticeship then soon became a partner and Director in a leading electrical and communications company in Perth. Soon after leaving the company, Jon acknowledged his interest in fire protection and rapidly developed his career, starting as a Fire Technician then progressing to work predominantly as the Service Manager for various fire protection companies in Perth. Jon’s rise from electrician to respected fire protection industry Service Manager has seen him establish and maintain great working relationships with his team and clients. His work history covers all aspects of dry fire installation, from project management, estimating, to design, has seen him work on some of the most prestigious buildings and sites in Perth and the northwest.

 

Jon has been an invaluable asset as Service Manager, where his daily duties include overseeing the Divisional Managers and office staff and business development.

Craig Moulton

Fire Electrical/Director – 30 years industry experience

Craig Moulton has a career in the fire and electrical industry that spans over thirty years. This has enabled him to gain knowledge and experience over a very broad spectrum within this field.

Craig’s involvement includes:

  • Fire fighting and hazard reduction activities. This includes all activities involved in fire fighting, traffic accident body extrication and hazard control, rescue, etc.
  • As a Station Officer broader roles included, Incident Command, Recourse and Labour Management, training and education of professional fire fighters, industry personnel and the general public.
  • Fire detection and EWIS/Occupant warning system installation. This includes Aged Care facilities, commercial buildings, Industrial sites, Mine sites, Hospitals etc .
  • Project management of Fire detection and EWIS/Occupant warning system installations. This includes, installation design, equipment and labour procurement and management, drawings, ongoing project management, commissioning, handover and warranty execution.
  • Administration, Company Management, estimator. On a daily basis, perform the tasks required to operate a continually evolving and expanding company. Prepare tenders and quotations for future works. Design systems as part of our design and construct role. Oversee and advise project managers, designers, supervisors etc.

  • Varanus Island – Gas turbine gas suppression system – Co2. This included upgrade of imported system for compliance with Australian Standards
  • Woolworths RDC – MULTIPLEX . Included Networked fire detection system and Networked EWIS system. The fire detection system included, point type smoke & thermal detection, networked aspirated smoke detection system, linear heat detection and beam detection. These detection systems protected Cool Rooms, Freezers, Computer Rooms, Offices, Warehouse, Dangerous goods area and more.
  • District Law Courts – MULTIPLEX. A multi storey building with multiple functions including basement car park, prisoner holding area and cells, offices, amenities and court rooms. Protection was supplied via a networked fire detection and EWIS system. Signals from these systems were integrated with the sophisticated building management and security systems.
  • Raine Square – Salta. Situated over a city block, bounded by Wellington, William Queen and Murray Streets. This 22 storey building has one of the largest foot prints in the city. A design and construct project that due to its size, required the fire detection and EWIS systems to be distributed throughout the building by fire rated networks. Due to many varied risks, such as three levels of basement car park, an atrium in the shopping mall, computer rooms and extended paths of egress, the design of the fire detection system utilises a wide variety of technologies. The fire detection system includes, point type smoke & thermal detection, aspirated smoke detection systems, beam detection and gas suppression.
  • MESA A – HWE.  A new mine site 50km from Panawonica, we installed a networked fire detection throughout the mine site. This consisted of 18 x distributed fire panels monitoring each buildings detection and occupant warning system. These panels are networked via the site fibre optic system. These systems covered all mine site buildings

Ewan Downes

Fire Electrical/Site Supervisor – 21 years in the Fire Industry

Ewan started in the fire industry in 1995 in Melbourne, working for an installation company of Fire Detection and EWIS systems. Whilst in Melbourne Ewan gained invaluable experience working on many large high profile projects such as the Rod Laver Arena and various high rise buildings.

Since moving to Perth in 2001, Ewan was rewarded with the position of Electrical Leading Hand and since joining the Firesafe Team has become a successful Site Supervisor across a large number of projects. Ewan’s experience and knowledge of fire detection systems including EWIS is illustrated in the projects that he has completed.

Stuart Barkes

Stuart Barkes is the inaugural director of the Firesafe Inground Services division and has been successful in completing various major projects in Australia, East Timor, U.K. and Ireland throughout his career. He began his career in the plumbing industry in 1990 as an apprentice within a leading plumbing company in Perth where he gained invaluable experience in installation of large bore piping systems on major projects. His 19 years in the Fire & Plumbing industry has seen him progress to specialise in managing Fire protection installations on a wide range of projects.

As a director his daily roles includes project managing, estimating, administration, labour procurement, site labour management and representing the company in meetings with builders, clients and local authorities.

Adam Mangan

Adam Mangan has been an invaluable asset as an Operations Manager and Director in Plumbing and Fire Companies for the last 12 years. His rapid rise from an apprentice in a medium size Sydney commercial plumbing company to a fully licensed plumbing contractor that has seen him deliver large scale industrial and commercial projects on time and on budget.
